Exotic Species

Students in Ms. Jansen`s Grade 9 science class presented information on a variety of exotic species including the Yellow Floating Heart, a yellow aquatic perennial plant native to Europe and Asia that can now be found in Ottawa`s Rideau Canal, and the Round Goby, an invasive bottom-dwelling fish now established in all of the Great Lakes. Students presented strategies for combatting the effects of these harmful organisms and ways in which we can prevent these species from traveling to Canada.
