Science Fair ’16 Award Winners

On Tuesday morning, the TEAM School community gathered to recognize the outstanding science fair projects of our Grades 7 and 8 students. Miss Jansen began the assembly by acknowledging the diverse range of topics and projects. She excitedly shared the learning that she observed as students completed their projects and prepared to present them in the weeks leading up to our Science Fair on April 8th. Specifically, she noticed that grade eight students were reflecting on last year’s project to determine what they would do the same and what they would do differently this year.

Grade 7s conferenced with their classmates to discuss how some of their findings were unexpected and then tried to figure out what caused those surprising results. Miss Jansen also shared feedback from the judges that recognized the clear and knowledgeable presentations by the students. One judge was particularly impressed with our students’ ability to clearly and succinctly share their projects in a way that showed a thorough understanding of both the science concepts and the practical implications of their findings.

Needless to say, science fair resulted in a lot of learning – learning about science, learning about presentation skills, and learning about managing a large-scale project. We are very proud of the efforts put forth by all of our Grades 7 and 8 students. We would like to thank the Mentor/TEAM Parent Association for the trophies and plaques presented to TEAM School’s Science Fair award winners:
