TV Fitness Expert Mark MacDonald Speaks to TSS Classes
Students at TSS were treated to an exceptional speaker last Wednesday. Straight from the world of television, fitness, and nutrition expert Mark MacDonald delivered an interactive presentation about how to eat well and the benefits of doing so.
Mark appears regularly on the Dr. Oz Show and CNN. He is also the author of the best-selling book Body Confidence. Mark’s client list includes Hollywood celebrities as well as professional and elite athletes, but it was clearly evident that his passion lies in working with young people. His energy for healthy living was palpable and contagious.
Students learned about where the body gets its fuel, the importance of ‘getting their threes’ (protein, carbs and fats), eating regularly, how to fit in their favourite foods, even those ‘not-so-healthy’ ones, and staying hydrated. Mark backed up the importance of staying active by involving every one of the students and staff in attendance in his presentation – Sofia was the antioxidant working hard to save Mrs. Sawtschuk, the strong cell that was in danger of being attacked by Kevin, the free radical.
Students (and staff) left Mark’s presentation inspired; in fact, they look forward to the launch of a healthy active living club based on the presentation and Mark’s book. We all look forward to a possible follow-up visit with Mark in the not-too-distant future.
